Club News September 2015

September 2015

The Newport Bowling Association Finals Day took place at Beechwood Bowling Club on Sunday 13th September with Caerleon Bowling Club well represented.

It was a long hard day for Jeff Davies as he was in 3 finals. He started at 10.30 in the morning when with his partner Kevin Davies, he played in the pairs final. The game lasted almost 3 hours with Jeff and Kevin narrowly losing to the Whiteheads pair of Roger Jukes and Mike Doody.

Next up for Caerleon was Dave Hill in the 4 Wood Singles Championship where his opponent was Justin Mundy of Beechwood, a bowler who Dave had coached as a novice whilst at that club. It was a good quality game with Dave running out as the winner on the day.

After a short break, Jeff Davies was back on the green playing in the 2 Wood Singles Championship, once again losing out narrowly to Billy Tait of Belle Vue.

It was 3rd time lucky for Jeff however when he produced a storming performance as lead with George Gibb, Keith Jones and Mike Jones in their rinks victory over a strong St. Julians four.

Well done to all bowlers who got to the Finals and made it such a good day. The Caerleon bowlers who took part would like to thank fellow members and friends for their support during the course of the day.

Finally, Caerleon Bowling Club would like to thank NBA Chairman John Letts and the Ladies and Gentlemen of Beechwood Bowling Club for all their hard work that led to a friendly, well organised and very successful Newport Finals Day.
