CLUB NEWS, MATCH REPORTS AND OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST.

April 2015

A very warm welcome to Caerleon Bowling Club as we begin another season. “Club News” is the first of several new features on our
website that we hope to bring to you throughout the course of the season.

We have lost 3 established members this year who have decided to retire from outdoor bowls. We are sorry to see them go and wish
them all the best. However, we have gained 7 brand new bowlers who are all very keen, have had coaching from the club and are raring
to go. We very much welcome them as they will be an asset to our club for years to come.

The green is looking good and bowling very well especially as it is still early in the season. Many thanks to Derek, our Greenkeeper, for
his efforts.

We had a very successful inaugural fixture with Mountain Ash Bowling Club on Saturday 18th April. It was a pleasure to meet new friends
and make the most of the beautiful weather. We hope to visit them next year and make this a regular date on our fixture card.

The fixture list is packed this year as the MBA new league structure kicks in. Caerleon are proud to be in the 3rd of 6 divisions. All the
sides in the division are strong and we look forward to some very competitive games. The new home and away format is fairer and you
get the chance to travel to far more greens.

Travel has never been an issue for our GBL side. This year they have 22 league fixtures as an additional team has joined their league.
Good luck to GBL Captain Dennis Lee and his men.

Bob Harding, Captain of the GBL side for the past 3 years has the honour of being Vice Chairman of the Newport Bowling Association for
this year and will go on to become Chairman in 2016. We wish Bob all the very best and will do all that we can as a club to support him.
